The Pro and Retina MacBook are two very different machines. The Retina MacBook
has similar ram and storage, but its processor is a mobile one meant for lower
power and less heat output/power consumption. In other words, that machine will
run a lot slower, especially for more intense tasks like streaming videos.
Basically, if you need the power of a Pro, you’ll likely hate the Retina
MacBook, at least at times. If you will always be happy with the Retina
MacBook, the Pro is probably overkill and the Retina MacBook, MacBook Air, or
the less powerful Pro sans Touch Bar will work for you and save you some money.
