Hello Jonathan, I did not mean to imply that one could not read the balance of one's card from within the app. What I meant to say is that when one touches the "Pay With" button, the amount is not spoken.
So the first step is to make certain that the Home Tab, located near the lower left corner of the display is selected. Then, touch the "Pay With" button which is located just above the lower right corner of the display. I have rewards on my account, including a free reward. Earlier today, I spent some time with several friends all of whom use the Starbucks app; so I tested this on 1 iPhone 7, 1 6 S, and 1 6, in addition to my own 8 Plus and the results were consistent across all four devices. By the way, all of these devices use the Samantha Enhanced, TTS. When you get a chance, please do the following: 1. Make certain that the app is closed out of the app switcher. 2. Check for updates, just to be certain that you have the latest version. 3. Now start the app and make certain that the Home tab, located near the lower left corner of the display is selected. 4. Finally, using explore-by-touch, place VoiceOver focus on the "Pay With" button, located just above the lower right corner of the display, and simply touch it. Do not single-finger double-tap it. In all of my tests, VoiceOver simply says, "Pay with current balance." I was able to read the amount on my Starbucks card with no difficulty. Though it might be that I had a reward on the line above and so was seeing a slightly different format.
