It is cool that we can do that. But I see it only as a workaround. I don’t 
really care to use the Google assistant. Though creating the Siri shortcut it’s 
seamless from my end.

I did add all my devices to the Google assistant since they all work with just 
about every platform out there. But I prefer using Siri. So the nest is the 
only thing that I have to do this way. And it does work well.
It’s rather easy to set up. First you have to set up your Google assistant app 
on your iPhone. Then use it to do various functions with your nest. After you 
do them once then they will be in your Siri shortcuts suggestions. So then all 
you do who is at a phrase and you’re done.

So for example are use the Google assistant to set my nest thermostat to 70°. 
Then I went to settings for Siri and under the suggested shortcuts was set the 
thermostat to 70°. So I added the key phrase, and now all I have to do is tell 
Siri to set my thermostat to 70°. It launch is the assistant app and tells it 
to do it. So it can only be done from the phone since it needs to launch the 
Google assistant app.
