European keyboards have 79 keys whereas American-style keboards have 78. The
Return key on a European keyboard is an oddly-shaped key that extends over two
rows and is narrow at the bottom. The American Return key is two key-widths
wide rather like the right shift key which is just below it.
Although all keyboards have their key attributions printed on the keys, you can
set any keyboard to another layout. The keyboard on my MacBook Air is printed
as an azerty keyboard which is the French standard, but I switch between the
French and British layout regularly as it’s easier to type the Accented lettrs
on the azerty layout but I prefer the numbers on the British layout as the
French ones require the shift key.
Cheers,

Anne
