Two thinks, Kelly, that you’ve probably already done but just in case:

1. JAWS, particularly, as you know, has the Sound Card option as one of the 
things in the Utilities folder. See if there’s more than just the default 
Windows sound card as an option.
2. With your VM running, you should be able to do CTRL+Opt+Right to get to 
devices, interact with them and make sure the sound card is present there.

Not sure if this will help but thought I’d suggest anyhow.
