Dave,

It's all a matter of priority and preference.  Yes, it worked in the past, and 
yes, it still works.  It just is a slightly different key combination.  Making 
the rotor less key strokes, from their research, probably affected more people 
and would make more aspects of VO easily manipulated.  Changing the voice 
parameters is less often necessary, whereas, changing the rotor is more 
commonly done.
