Somehow, I lost the start of this discussion. My general advice regarding Microsoft Word for Mac would be to make sure you’re using the latest version (e.g., Monthly Channel) from Office 365, with an up to date Mac OS/VoiceOver.
There is no doubt that Microsoft Office for Mac has been improving in its accessibility over time.
