I just tested it again, I can report that I am  most definitely  pressing it 
once. I’ve always had problems with the control key on this machine, first 
thing in the morning once I’ve opened my lid and start using the computer it 
takes about three or four presses of the control key before it silences 
VoiceOver. Almost like it needs to warm up. But when I test it on my wife’s 
MacBook it behaves as it should every time. It’s just the control key on my 
machine that refuses to play nicely.
