If I want to open my time machine disk to see the folders, I u usually look 
at it through the Finder. I open the disk and proceed from there. 

    As far as I can see, the time machine interface looks the same to me. I 
just tried this by opening Time Machine from the menu extras while focused on a 
folder in Finder.
