If Apple’s Calendar application can access Google Calendar, then you could import the meeting invitations into Apple’s Calendar application. I suspect this is the default application for handling the file if you open it from the Finder or from a terminal with the open command.

 

Thus the first step would be to add your Google account to the Mac so the calendar can access it.
