Hello Jessica, Hopefully, by the time you read this reply, you will have already gotten your E SIM up and running. If you have not yet got your E SIM up and running, there are a couple of things you may wish to note:
1. Based on the info you provided from the carrier, you will most likely need to be using an iPhone 14 or later. I say this because in their email they state that you cannot activate their E SIM with a physical SIM installed and they also state that you need an active E SIM card in order to proceed. These two conditions can only be met by iPhone 14 or later. Now it may be that they sent you generic instructions that may or may not be valid in all situations. 2. When you call the 800 number, they should be able to get you up and running, although it may take a little time as you will have to read a very long phone identifier number to them. 3. Just so you know, there are several app, in the App Store that are completely voiceOver accessible and that will allow you to purchase and activate an E SIM on your iPhone, provided that you have, at least, WiFi access. For example, I have recently used the T Mobile Prepaid app to install T Mobile E Sim cards on several phones. T Mobile Prepaid offers several attractive plans, depending upon your needs. They have an unlimited talk and texting with 1GB of data for approximately $15 per month. 4. When it's all said and done, activating an E SIM is not difficult but neither is it intuitive. So, I'm hoping that you will not spend a great deal of time struggling with the process; choosing instead, to get some sighted assistance or going to a local store and having them activate the E SIM, for you. All things being equal, once you get your new E SIM activated, you will not have to deal with it again, for years. But the key to this whole thing, is you need to have another phone available that you can talk to consumer cellular on. So that they can give you the codes. And if you are. Sadly, I know nothing about how to even remove/insert a SIM card, so in the past, when I switched carriers, I either just took my phone to a carrier-specific store and let them do it, or let Hannah (my now 14-year-old daughter,) do it, who is really good with just about anything tech-related. However, she’s in Orlando visiting her dad for Christmas, and things got so busy right before she left, that there wasn’t time for me to ask her to help then. I know whenever I switched from my iPhone SE to my iPhone 14, and I currently have spectrum, all I had to do was give them are all they had to do, was give me some numbers to put in, and my eSIM was successfully activated. If you already have an eSIM, and not using a physical Sim, on the new device, it will pop up with a thing to ask you, if you want to activate eSIM once you have signed into your iCloud and connected to Wi-Fi Joseph Hudson EmailFaceTime/iMessage mailto:jhud7...@twc.com Connect with me on zoom https://us06web.zoom.us/j/3437608339?pwd=akNsMHlLTWsyWmk0UXdSaVdsSkhNUT09 On Dec 22, 2023, at 1:22 PM, Jessica Moss <mailto:junglebookfa...@gmail.com> wrote: I’ve just recently decided to switch to Consumer Cellular, and they sent me a huge list of instructions for installing an e-sim, something I’ve never done before. Part of this involves me needing to align my phone with an image on my computer screen, if I remember correctly, and another step involves needing to scan a QR code, and the rest I’ll need to look back at the e-mail they sent me, since it was really long. To anybody who has ever done this, how much of this will I be able to do with Voiceover, and how much will require something like a team viewer session with an Aira Agent to finish setting up? -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list.
