Steve,

I have the DS124 single bay server. When I input my ip address I have a very
busy screen with desktop, control panel, file management, etc. This interface
does not play well with Voiceover and I am not confident that I have my
read/write privileges set properly.

I do have a shared folder that works with my Time Machine backups, and a folder
with a quota restriction for general reading/writing of files to share across
the network.

But a 4Tb SSD drive connected to the NAS via USB complains that I don’t have
write privileges. This drive works just fine directly connected to my Mac, but
not via the server.

Dave,

I thought the Synology Assistant was a separate application. When I go to
http://192.168.1.124, the address of my Synology DS1815+, I just get a login
page, nothing about the Synology Assistant. What server model do you have? I
wonder if you set it up with their software.
