Well,  I'm assuming you can do this.  IE,  If I go into the apple store and by 
and Iphone it will take any sim card I want to put in it.  Thus I could buy the 
phone outright, choose my sim carrier, and ditch them if they give me grief.  
Rogers.

The exception would be carriers using CDMA such as bell and Telus.  Some of 
these are set up so that only a phone from that carrier will activate on the 
network which may mean that to use a CDMa carrier you have to buy the IPhone 
from the company.  That would of course tend to preclude my doing business with 
that company.

I'd far and away rather get support from the apple store than from any carrier 
I've done business with in canada.
