exactly what does Skype say regarding the network?

I run Skype here (version 2.8) and the only issues I have with it are
accessibility ones (currently being mitigated by the use of growl). I Still
can't answer a call without first determining who is calling and then open a
chat to them just to get to the answer button on the toolbar (or the menu as a
separate route). I really would like a "1 button solution" to the answer call
problem (such as ctrl-a).

anyway, if you have network access, but Skype doesn't, you either need to allow
Skype in the system firewall (under the security applet in system preferences)
or check your router/firewall at the internet connect point (dsl/cable modem).
