Hello there. 
It depends on what yo are trying to accomplish with it. 
The Mac mini has a lower end processor with limited ram and hard disk space. 
You also need to have a monitor connected to it wether you are using it or not. 
You also have to provide your own keyboard and pointing device. 
The Imac is more powerful and you have choices on processing speed, ram etc.
