Hello, I second that.
POP is a protocol meant for the downloading of all the messages that the server as received for you, since the last time you connected. It has no notion of folders or message status. IMAP was designed to synchronize messages between your mail client and the server, so it's perfect for sharing mailboxes across multiple computers and/or IOS devices, or to keep a permanent copy of all your mail in a server, as a backup, to also access it via webmail, etc. There's a very useful article on how to best use IMAP, GMail and the Mail.app: http://db.tidbits.com/article/10253 HTH, André On Jul 9, 2011, at 7:31 AM, Teresa Cochran wrote: > I've used both pop and Imap with Gmail and they both work.
