Hi Tracy, I also miss having the sound that tells you when a USB devise is added or removed. There is no option for that on the Mac. However you will find ways to hear download status or status of something happening, There are settings for playing a tone or saying percent. once you choose this you need to have focus on the correct spot in the application to hear it. I usually find the tone works better as the percentage tends to talk over itself. I'm pretty sure this is in the VO preferences under verbosity. Probably under announcements. I hope this helps.
