Are you on Mac or iPhone?   Another possibility that would probably work better 
esp. if you are on iPhone is to create a Exchange connection to Google using 
the m.google.com server address.  I have only gotten that to work on a Windows 
6 phone, but I know there are folks on this list that do use that with their 
phone. Also might be worth a restart of your system, just in case the google 
sync program has not been started it should auto-start on next login and/or 
boot.
