I should say that turning down the brightness on the Mac does make its
battery last longer, but that turning it off is the best and that screen
curtain seems to have no or minimal impact on battery life.

Ok, one of my notorious "just wondering" questions.
I've heard many discussions about whether screen curtain saves
battery life in laptops and the smaller devices. I'm wondering if
screen curtain works by modifying information that's already been
passed to the display, or whether it bypasses the display altogether.
If it's used on an Ipod, for example, does it still use a lot of
resources? Does anyone know how it works, technically speaking?
Thanks,
Teresa
