Hi Tim,

I tried that and I have been able to figure out that the problem is with the 
left option key. Is there any way to replace the function of that key  with 
some other unimportant key like the function key to fix the problem for the 
time being?
I don't want to get the whole thing replaced at this stage. Can I do anything 
at all apart from using a bluetooth keyboard?
