Hi,

If you run the updates from the Purchased Items window of the AppStore (cmd-4), 
it may list older updates that aren’t necessary along with the newer ones.  
When running Software Update from the Apple menu or the Updates window of the 
AppStore (cmd-5), which by the way are actually the same thing, there should be 
an “Update All” button.  Press this button and only the necessary updates 
should be applied.
