One (very strong IMHO) reason could be that legacy scratchbox (0.9.8.x series) doesn't work in a 64 bit environment.
As all AMD systems sold today are 64 bit and more and more Linux distributions are released for 64 bit environments, I think that moving to the Scratchbox stable ( 1.0.x) series is becoming a priority (always IMHO of course !).
I'm using Scratchbox 1.0.1 rc1 for x86_64 architecture (see http://www.rahkonen.org/projects.html) with the latest Maemo release and it seems to be working just fine.

There has been on the mailing list people who have talked about SB 1.0
and there are known cases of maemo rootstraps to work on SB 1.0 but
still we havnt officially moved to 1.0 because of above reasons.
No body really has put in time to evaluate why to move to SB 1.0
(especially since the 0.9.8.5 version works well for our needs, so there
is no great significant itch).
I am not so upto date on all developments, but what would be the major
reason to move to SB 1.0 and what are the impacts if any ?
