I am afraid that I am not totally aware of what iphb does. If it just delays the ACKs to minimize the data transmission, it should work fine by reconfiguring the value according to our requirements. According to to proposal, the wireless interface sleep times can be maximized by modifying the values of the congestion window in the ACK.
