The reason for selecting Maemo for this project is that the main focus is on saving energy by maximizing sleep intervals for the 802.11b wifi interface. Also, this technique is useful for only TCP streams and there might be some UDP packet loss when the wireless interface is in sleep mode. However, it can be possible to turn off the mechanism with the help of a desktop widget when udp data needs to be handled. Will you be interested in mentoring this project? -- Best Regards, Ahmad N.
