Dear Mahogany-gurus,

I have been looking for a cross platform mail/news client
that could be used both on Win2000 and on Linux platforms.
Mahogany seems to be an ideal tool for that purpose BUT I do
not understad how it should be configured as a news client.
The mail client is working without problems - my ISP is
mail.kolumbus.fi, and I have there an IMAP account. As far
as I understand my NNTP ISP is news.kolumbus.fi - at least
it is working in Netscape, Mozilla, knode, pine, you name
it. However, whatever I have tried with Mahogany 0.64 for
Win32, the result is always the same: Suppose that I try to
open newsgroup sfnet.atk.tex. I create it, but while trying
to open it the following message appears:

    Mail.log: can't open mailbox
{news.kolumbus.fi/anonymous/nntp}sfnet.atk.tex}. invalid
remote specification.

The situation is not better if I give my login string and
password. For reasons I cannot understad a new message is
displayed:

    SMTP error: 553koti-z5twiwtcza.kolumbus.fi does not
exist,

and every time I try to create a new folder, my e-mail
address is changed into Olli J. [EMAIL PROTECTED] I
hate it!

I really would like to change my Outlook Express into
Mahogany, but as the things now are, it is impossible.
Please, what have I done wrong?
