Hope you have had a great start into 2003. WPAA would like to wish you all the success and best of health for the new year. With every passing year, WPAA is getting stronger and stronger. As of today, there are over 1225 registered members worldwide and 16 Pantnagar associations that are directly or indirectly working with WPAA. "WPAA is doing the job of a torch bearer for GBPUA&T", commends Dr. P L Gautam, Vice-Chancellor of GBPUA&T in his recent message to WPAA. Your support, encouragement and help is the real motivation behind all this hard work being put in by WPAA Executives, Representatives and many others. On behalf of all those, I would like to extend our gratitude to you and want to let you know that we really appreciate it. Before I introduce the ongoing issues, I would like to present the WPAA accountbook for the year 2002 along with all the prior records. Many of you are probably still skeptical about the fee and contributions that WPAA received during these years and so, here is the complete breakup of all the fund activity so far. With the membership strength of over 1225 across 40 plus nations, expecting to do much better wouldn't be too much to hope for, right ? Please, think about it. It is your very own alma mater that you will be helping when you send in your fee and/or contribution. We have so many exciting projects that we want to undertake but can not, simply because we do not have enough resources. Even though the PayPal system has been in place for a while and the same is being mentioned in every month's newsletter, it still has not reached the expected popularity amongst the members. And now on to some important administrative issues that you all should be aware of: - WPAA Election 2003: Since no one showed any interest in being part of WPAA Executive Committee for 2003 (not even a single response), the present Executive Committee continues to hold the office with no change whatsoever in any post. - Annual Membership Fee and Contributions: WPAA would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who were kind enough to submit their membership fee and contributions for 2002. We greatly appreciate your continued support and encouragement and request you to please make sure that your payments are all accounted for in WPAA account book. In case of any questions, please feel free to write to 'treasurer at wpaa dot org'. - Yearbook 2002 - Another important project that is nearing completion is 'WPAA Yearbook 2002'. Thanks to Somya Chaudhary, Home Science, 1987 batch, who was kind enough to accept this responsibility of leading this project and putting it all together. Here are the tasks that WPAA has closely been involved in: *** Fund Drive *** A sum of USD 3000 was collected for Computer Engineering Department, College of Technology, during a 'Fund Drive' that lasted almost two years. The funds were delivered to the then Vice-Chancellor, Dr. J. B Chowdhury in Feb, 2002. Head of Computer Engineering Department, Prof. R N Mishra later informed us via an email that a decision had been made to purchase a LCD projector for the department. WPAA would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who contributed towards this Fund Drive' and helped it make a success. *** WPAA Chapters *** If you are a Coordinator of a WPAA chapter, a member of another Pantnagar association or know about one, please log your entry here and share it with rest of us.
