----------------------------------------------- #1 All,
I will be in Fremont, CA during Thanksgiving holidays i.e. on Nov 25, 26, 27 and 28. I am wondering if some/all of us in the region can get-together and reminisce our good old times at Pantnagar. I remember, Sudhir Agrawal, 68 batch, once mentioned about the same, but I am not so sure.
Anyway, if you are interested, please let me know and we will arrange something
- 'mast' dinner or, chai-pokoda party.
Regards, Nishi Kapoor, Nishikant <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- #2 Folks,
Do any of you have any info/experience/pointers as to how we can set up a secure payment gateway for WPAA - for deposits in India. Please let me know.
Also, we need your assistance for following:
- maintaining & developing new features at WPAA web site - volunteers for helping us reach the members - coordinator for monthly WPAA newsletter - anything interesting/innovative that you would like to see happen
Regards,
Nishi

Dear NishikantKudos to you and your team for heartfelt efforts. Its a tough task going on and on even when you have to repeatedly send reminders for annual fee. I suggest you may make it annual and life membership i.e. either of the two. Its the lazy one of every one which comes in between. All the life members names can be put up in the web site in a special zone.
Any how I confirm having sent cheques for T shirt and membership both but think they have not been encashed as yet. Have you started taking membership fee etc. contribution from Indian residents through credit card ?
Pl confirm reciept of my cheques otherwise I would cancel the old ones andsend a new one. I am really looking fwd to getting one WPAA T shirt.
With best wishes

Subject: Retained by Imperial Irrigation District, Building a Water/Irrigation/Ag Team
Date: Thu, 11 Nov 2004 16:35:47 -0800
The Imperial Irrigation District (IID) just retained us to do an exclusive nationwide search to find them three of the nation's most extremely talented water resource or irrigation/ag engineers as they set up and oversee the IID/San Diego Water Transfer Project in Southern California.
They are specifically tasking us to identify three different engineers to join the new transfer program and report directly to the head of operations. They are flexible in the mix, but are generally seeking an entry level (probably recent graduate), mid-level, and PE Licensed engineer to join the new team. These three individuals would be the key personnel that move the program ahead in its initial stages during the next few years and set in place the standards and plans to be used over the next 40 year life of the ongoing transfer. Of importance, and key to traits required in each of the engineers, would be significant hydrology abilities and skill set.
Functioning as a team, these three engineers are going to be doing everything from hydrologic, consumptive use and water balance calculations for analysis of irrigation, drainage and water conservation projects to significant hydraulic modeling, extensive planning studies and project implementation. The water backgrounds of the group members could vary, but significant knowledge of irrigation and drainage engineering principles and practices with in-depth understanding of flow, storage, canal system operation and on-farm irrigation practices would also be desired. River/reservoir operations experience would be a plus to consideration.
Generally, the various positions would require a B.S. Degree or Advanced Degrees in Irrigation, Agricultural or Civil Engineering and focused water resources experience.
In terms of salary, they are offering some of the industries most competitive wages and relocation expenses; the goal being to find the most skilled and able individuals. The district also has probably one of the industries best and most extensive benefits programs, including: Health/Dental/Vision, Vacation, 401k with Match and vesting over 3 years, Flexible Deferred Spending Program, Group Term Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance, etc.
Overall the positions open a wealth of opportunity and experience in addition to the rewards of playing a major role in helping to craft the water landscape here in the southwestern United States.
