You're wrong on both counts.  In Mailman 2.1.18, "From" munging is
equally easy to turn off -- two clicks on an admin page.

You're missing the point. If you configure a list to put the list's address in the From: line, users have to change they way they work for all mail from the list, and if you change it back, the users have to change again.
