I don't know what has happened, but suddenly, in this dual mode, the cursor insists on wanting to be in the search field. When I startup MailMate, the cursor is in the search field. It starts with a blank screen, so I have to hit Esc and then my shortcut to switch views, in my case 'x', before I see a message appear. 'x' again before the message listing appears.
The problem now is that if I open a message and then hit p or b to move to the previous message, the cursor ends up in the search field. I have to hit Esc each time to be able to navigate to another message.
