Be advised that Outlook requires a windows live server access. It was published some time ago. New process implemented some time in OCT2024.

From the manual:

Account Setup

  • OAuth2

Some servers support an authentication scheme known as OAuth2. In short, this requires that the user logs into a website and explicitly allows MailMate to access the service. A special token is then returned which MailMate can use to authenticate when connecting to the server. Enabling OAuth2 in the settings only means that MailMate uses this authentication method if it’s available. Currently, this only works with Gmail and Office365 accounts. Use “Help ▸ Send Feedback” if you have access to a different server with OAuth2 support. Note that Microsoft often uses the term “Modern Authentication” to describe what, in practice, is OAuth2 authentication for IMAP/SMTP.

I wouldn’t be surprised if app-passwords are deprecated in Gmail and Outlook in time.

When I try to send mail from my Outlook.com account, I get the error Authentication unsuccessful, basic authentication is disabled. However, I am using an app specific password to login to Outlook.com. I have tried resetting the app password, but that does not resolve the issue. I've also verified my IMAP settings with https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/pop-imap-and-smtp-settings-for-outlook-com-d088b986-291d-42b8-9564-9c414e2aa040. What am I missing?
