In the spirit of splitting hairs, as someone who has opened a retail business, 
code violations are usually something that *hasn't* been done. In this case 
updating a server.

The operative phrase is "for code violations".

As in something has been done.

I'm not aware of any widely recognized code that says that your SMTP 
implementation must be less than X number of Y units old.
