FYI: Next 2.1-beta will have the service menu entries:

Similar to Mail.app, Mailplane now provides a service menu.

   - Send Selection: Creates a new message and sets the body text with the
   selected text.
   - Send To: Creates a new message and fills the TO field with the selected
   text.
   - Send File: Creates a new message and attaches the selected files to it.
