I was able to active Buzz in Mailplane 2.1.4 on Snow Leopard. It just simply happened while I quit and reopen Mailplane. The promo message was shown at the beginning after loading Mailplane. And I am not required to reset and Gmail session at all. BTW, I didn't enable the offline Gmail feature.
