Ruben, I have the same problem on two Macs which have been updated to Safari 5.0.1. The cursor does not move around in a message. If I cmd- tab to another app, then cmd-tab back, I see that the cursor did move to a new location, but it does not update while I am in the app itself. There is no way to edit a new message or reply to a message.
