Not for me it isn't. When I use the calendar functionality in Mailplane 3, any notifications pop up as a modal dialog completely blocking the Mailplane application, and typically appear over whatever else I'm doing. This makes the calendar completely unusable for me in Mailplane. If the notifications are going to be this intrusive, I'd prefer to be able to just disable them completely so at least I could use the rest of the calendar functionality (I have plenty of other mechanisms for being notified about calendar events anyway).
