Sounds like they have set limits for you.

Show us the output of

        ulimit -aS
        ulimit -aH

on this shell.

Also, how large is the database expected to be?  How large is the input
mailbox?  Can you break the mailbox down into smaller pieces and run
mairix successfully?  What size piece works?
