Hi Joe: Since you mentioned the PX350, I will send you the instrument
definition file my wife wrote for me. Let me know if it resolves your
metronome and tracking playing issues. Thanks

Hieaationicole,
Again, I thank you for taking time to consider my problem.
I suspect that you are on the right track that it's something to do with out
ports. There's more than the metronome problem.
Along with that situation, I can go to a track and when I play the keyboard,
the right instrument sounds. The exception, and this must be significaant, is
that when I select the drum kit on Channel 10, the wrong instrument sounds.
This appears to be something with my Casio PX-350 or perhaps something about
its MIDI implementation. I can only hope that my friend will find something in
the synth manual which might aid in fixing this.
Perhaps you or someone else on this list knows of something more that I can do.
Again, thanks to all who have written with your ideas.

Okay, then it's not a QWS problem, it's something with your sound source.
QWS is going to send MIDI out no matter what.
Check your output port for the metronome — that might be the problem.

Yes. I have played a number of standard MIDI files.

Hi, Nicole,
First, I fixed the latency when I saw something about "preferred
device." I chose my instrument and all was great!
The metronome still does not click even after doing what you
suggested here.
I'm about ready to uninstall QWS and re-install it. I had this
thought for another reason: When I look at the MIDI files I have in
the QWS directory, only a few are shown, even ones which I have
deleted.
I've closed and re-opened QWS and files list still does not read
correctly. I've had enough of this for one day. I'll get back to it
tomorrow.
Thanks very much for your continuing interest and help.

Okay, check the following things in this order.
First go to a track that is set up for the channel and sound you
want to use for your metronome sound. Play the keyboard and make
sure it's
sounding.
Find the sounds you want to use for your two metronome sounds.
In QWS go to the Options menu and pick Metronome. Make sure it's
set to the correct channel. In the boxes press the key on your
keyboard that triggers the sounds you want to use for your
metronome sounds.
You should hear them as you play them. For now set the volume on
both to 127. Also set how many count ins you want for the
playback
and recording windows. Tab down to OK and hit either the space
bar or
Enter to save your settings.
Now start a sequence and you should be able to turn it on and off
with
the Fbled key.

Hi, Juan,
Very good! I did exactly what you suggested and the metronome
still does not sound. What did I miss?

hello, on the options menu, on the metronome item you can
choose the output port and channel, and note for the clicks.
First make sure
that
your keyboard is selected as the output port and chennel 10
is
selected. Then, find a note that corresponds to a drum sound
on your keyboard, experiment with the midle range notes. It
should
now sound.
You eneable and disable the metronome with fbled.

Hello Listers,
As I said earlier, I've been been away from sequencing for
a
very long time but have gotten things just about ready to
do
serious
sequencing.
The biggest problem left is that the metronome does not
sound.
I've set the options to their defaults.
There must be a missing step, like telling the metronome
where to find the drum kit.
Thank you for your help.
