Two very simple ways you can help MakeMaker.

1) Clean up. Little things, like what Ken just patched, will slowly
make the code manageable again. Any simple refactorings you can do
will help.

2) Add tests. MakeMaker has almost no tests. This is extremely
dangerous in a module so large and critical. No matter what other
work gets done on MakeMaker, I'm not letting it out of alpha on CPAN
without tests.

With regard to the second, I'm going to start adding in some embedded
tests to things like MM_Unix. I think its a good match, given the
huge number of methods there are. Have a look at Pod::Tests if you're
interested in helping.
