I presume this is from the CPAN shell? >, but I don't think it installed it in the first place, since it's a Solaris box, not >VMS. Is that a bug? How can I get rid of that 'nuisance' message? Trying to >'install' it again is no use as the 'make test' is skipped. All of MakeMaker gets installed everywhere. You should have ExtUtils::MM_VMS. You can easily check with 'perldoc -l ExtUtils::MM_VMS'. What might be happening is your new installation is getting installed in a different spot than your old one and the old one is "shadowing". That is, the old version is coming earlier than the new one in @INC so its getting picked up. When you run an install, check for messages about 'shadowing' files. Try running "make install UNINST=1" to delete the other version.
