XS modules in general are OK.  libwin32 is also a recursive build -- it 
has a top-level Makefile.PL plus many sub-directories (I assume this is 
what you mean).

One of my own modules (Filter-Crypto) also has 2 sub-dirs with XS in 
them, and also builds fine.
