Thanks - that is it. we are using 4.0.21... or something. Shouldn't the admin
script you run to check everything - point that out. it said GOOD and was
green.
BTW couldn't find any release notes or anything on the mantis site. It use
to be easier to navigate.

Please note mantis 1.1 requires mysql 4.1 to support utf8; you are
most probably using an older release.
