Another option is to manage the individual configurations for the 2 projects and just be sure to check the boxes for "Status changes to 'new'", and "Status changes to 'closed'", for the correct user level of the 'helpdesk' id. At least this will temporarily solve your problem. Even though others may also receive the email. I am sure when the items are closed the mail were work, however I am not sure that reporting an issue is the same as changing the status to 'new'. That may not work as well. Newly reported issues and Closed issues are both available there. This has been around a while and should depend on the version (or at least I don't think so).
