1. Some of you will have noticed that the reply-to domain name on Mantovano has changed to virgil.org. The old address should work for awhile as well, but I hope everyone will agree that the new one is more mnemonic.
2. Typing www.virgil.org in your web browser now takes you to a remade version of the Hesperia website (which hosts the bibliography and other goodies). 3. New content: my sabbath day project was mounting a search engine on the web site that will allow anyone to search the Latin corpus of Virgil's works (using boolean and/or regular expressions if you so desire; not as good as Pandora, but free, and universally accessible, too). I don't actually have it up on the web yet, but I'm hoping to have it all working by the end of the month. 4. What I still need (in terms of raw materials) is an electronic text of the Eclogues. (The Appendix is just going to have to wait, unless someone knows of an electronic text for this, too.) Several years ago, I downloaded TEX versions of Aen 1-12 and Geo 1-4. I don't remember if the Eclogues just weren't available at the time, or if I was just too lazy to get them when I could find them! The files I used were (a) in the public domain and (b) taken from Greenough, J. B. _Bucolics,_Aeneid,_and_Georgics_Of_Vergil_. Boston: Ginn & Co., 1900. If someone can let me know where I can find the Eclogues files now, I would appreciate it. NB: please do NOT send the files as an attachment to this list. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- David Wilson-Okamura http://www.virgil.org [EMAIL PROTECTED] University of Chicago Online Virgil discussion, bibliography & links ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- To leave the Mantovano mailing list at any time, do NOT hit reply.
