I have Map 3d at work and read what it has to say, but I didn't know there were
tools for it. That's a big help.

Thanks

Huh, maybe using FDO Toolbox desktop application would make it all much easier.

Ed, take a look at: http://code.google.com/p/fdotoolbox/

For more info on FDO datastore/featureschema/featureclass/etc concepts read FDO
documentation, or read some Autodesk Map 3D book explaining its geospatial
concepts and how FDO fits in.

Yes, I meant use the FDO API directly.
Yes, by manual, I meant issue an SQL like:  "CREATE TABLE ...".

How would I that? Do you mean use the api for FDO? By "manual" do you mean just
create tables in mssql?

The MapGuide operations for creating a data store are somewhat limited.
It might work, but I don't think it will.

You can use FDO or manually create the data store, and then use it from
MapGuide.

Also, earlier I said "data source" what I meant was "data store", e.g. in
mssql.

Yes, that can be done.  The best starting point is the General Tasks markup
example.  It creates permanent SDF feature sources and layers on the fly.  You
can find it here:

I was looking at the online documentation and could only find info referencing
temporary features. Can mgos be used to create new features?
