I was concerned that any code in the Web Layout that gets served to the client may have been cached, but that appears not to be the issue. The two requests was originally an issue in IE6 because IE doesn't handle the transparency in the PNG image so it would fail and then send a second request to resolve the problem.
You can also just look at the Access.log for MapGuide and you will either see 1 or 2 RenderDynamicOverlay requests if I am not mistaken. Although I don't see how that would be reason for generating two requests to MG. I also tried to find example of transparent PNG and I viewed it in IE 7. I used Fiddler and I can see only one request send for that png while when accessing MapGuide site I can see two requests send to MG. Dave From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Haris Kurtagic Sent: Friday, October 31, 2008 3:23 PM To: MapGuide Users Mail List Subject: [mapguide-users] two requests In Autodesk MapGuide Enterprise Update 1 Readme, I found this interesting: "■ FDO Oracle trace showed two sets of queries for a single layer when there should have been only one. Web browsers were sending a second render map request because of PNG transparency issues with the map image. Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 2 and Firefox 3 now only send one request, improving performance. Internet Explorer 6 and Safari 3 still send two requests to render the map, because they do not properly support PNG transparency." I noticed that ajax viewer on one of my PCs is sending two requests to Mapguide 2.0.2. even when I am using IE 7. So it makes map rendering twice slower as it should be. FF 2 sends only one request from that machine. >From couple of other PCs, IE 7 is sending only one request. Is this only PNG transparency issue or there are some other issues? Haris
