The newer version of Maestro will upload these for you.
If you just point to the file, the other files will be in the folder
already, which is why it works.
I can assure you that having just the SHP file will not work.

I found the extents of shp file using fdo connection ......... and set
extents ... still new shape layer doest not appear
Just a thought, you are uploading all the required shp files right?
like:
file.shp
file.dbf
file.idx
etc...
?
I do not upload all these other than shp files using maestro also but they
get dislayed
