On the production website we have full blown SQL Server 2008.  However, for the 
people editing the data and for our demo use, we use SQL Server Express 2008.  
Both work well.  Please note the version number, you stated 2000 below.  The 
Spatial technology did not get added to SQL Server until the 2008 version.
