Hi Martin, The binaries should be installed as root and mgserver.sh/mgserverd.sh should be run as root. You may be able to run under another user account if you chown everything under /usr/local/mapguideopensource-2.2.0 and possibly /usr/local/fdo-3.5.0.
MapGuide 2.2 RC3 binaries have also been posted http://trac.osgeo.org/mapguide/wiki/Release/2.2RC3/Notes.
