Hi Martin, The MapGuide Server daemon may not be starting successfully. Do a "ps -auwx" to see if mgserver is in the process list. If it is not, try adding the following directory as root "mkdir /var/lock/mgserver". If adding the directory resolves the issue, please open a defect.
If this does not work, try running mgserver.sh. There may be unresolved shared library references on Ubuntu 10 which are preventing the MapGuide server process from starting up.
