Lord Burghley, the famous minister to Queen Elizabeth, had special maps
made evidently for each shire. Highly detailed maps, showing individual
residential structures, country estates, etc. Almost like a Sanborn fire
insurance map.
Apparently these maps, at least some survive and are kept within the
British Library. I would like to have a contact person there to ask about
how many and which survive.
This has nothing to do with Waldseemueller, Magellan, etc.
Any help with be greatly appreciated.

PS: Despite numerous attempts to contact high-level persons within the
map division at the Bibliotheque Nationale concerning the Green Globe, no one
has responded. I was once told that they are highly protective of their
cartographic assets when it comes to photo reproductions. Is this true? I
was hoping to be able to get a higher resolution version of the superb
image of the Green Globe on one of the BN pages on the Internet. Perhaps they
refuse to respond to inquiries that are not in the French language?
Perhaps they do not like inquiries from someone who focuses more on the
Waldseemueller map even though I have offered the most complete historical
contextualization of this famous map with a special emphasisis on Columbus'
Deep
French Connections, even to those persons behind the Waldseemueller map?
Very strange this silence from the BN's Reproduction Department. Based on
this experience, I suspect that the BF might never allow the fantastic Green
Globe with its four "America" inscriptions to be loaned to the Library of
Congress for a non-permanent display for the American people to enjoy.
